This is why you don't want to piss off a senior citizen.
[...] A 71-year old man thwarted a robbery at a Florida internet cafe on Friday when he shot two would-be assailants and the entire ordeal was captured on security tape.
The two robbers burst through the doors of the Palms Internet Cafe in Ocala and ordered everyone to get down as they waved a handgun at dozens of customers.
But they didn't expect Samuel Williams to pull out his own weapon and fire, injuring both of the criminals and saving the lives of his fellow Floridians. [...]
When criminals don't know who is armed, society is safer and this incident goes to prove the wisdom of that thought. Every state that has "will issue" concealed carry laws on their books has seen violent crime either decrease or at least remain at historical levels. The fear of a wild west Dodge City shooting gallery has not materialized anywhere in the United States. "Will issue" states are required to grant concealed carry permits to anyone who passes a background investigation and can demonstrate basic handgun safety proficiency. Background checks prevent convicted criminals from obtaining CCW permits. Some states require applicants to pass an approved handgun safety course as a condition to issuing the CCW permit.
