Allen West running out of options to challenge election results in Florida

By Rob Janicki

This is an update on the status of the congressional election in Florida between Congressman Allen West, running for reelection in a newly created district, and challenger Patrick Murphy.  As it stands it would appear that Murphy has defeated West by a count of 2400 votes, but there are some details yet to be accounted for by the Board of Elections.

...here’s the bottom line- the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections has finished its canvassing, having counted all of the absentee and provisional ballots this past Friday. The conclusion- West is down by about 2400 votes cumulatively across the congressional district. The Martin County Supervisor of Elections has also accounted for all of their ballots, and there appears that there is no issue there...

That would seem to close the door on West, but that still might not be accurate.

...
The last possibility for West’s chances lies with the St. Lucie County Supervisor of Elections, who is dragging their feet in releasing the Voter sign-in rolls.  West’s campaign is requesting these rolls in order to compare them with the actual votes cast.  So far, the SOE is saying that they are not all tallied and is currently working on accounting for all of the sign-in rolls.

Monday is a Federal holiday, and the West campaign is indicating that if the St. Lucie County Supervisor of Elections does not furnish the sign in rolls on Tuesday, West will file suit to get the rolls released...

Another point needs to be made for accuracy in our reporting.  I previously reported that there seemed to be some possibility of voting irregularities in the congressional district, to whit there were more vote cards turned in than registered voters.

There is an explanation for this rather rare phenomenon.  Florida experienced a huge number of ballot propositions that resulted in multiple ballot cards being necessary in order to vote on all candidates and issues.  If a voter turned in both ballots, it would show two ballot cards turned in for one registered voter and thus the total number of ballots would exceed the number of registered voters.

...Once the St. Lucie County Supervisor of Elections releases its voter sign in rolls, West will be able to more clearly determine how much the gap between he Patrick Murphy is.  St. Lucie County Supervisor of Elections is claiming that they are still trying to “put the voter sign-in rolls together,” but why is it taking so long in this day and age to disclose voter-sign in results- why can’t they be disclosed as fast as they release the vote count?...

Tuesday could be an important date one way or another.

...Monday is a Federal holiday, and the West campaign is indicating that if the St. Lucie County Supervisor of Elections does not furnish the sign in rolls on Tuesday, West will file suit to get the rolls released...

Stay tuned for further updates and any finalization to this election.  It should be noted that House Minority Leader, Nancy Pelosi arranged to have liberal PACs pour in millions of dollars to defeat West.  West was number one on Pelosi's hit list of Tea Party targets because of his vocal opposition to all things liberal.
