President Obama on Wednesday forced out the acting director of the Internal Revenue Service and pledged to work with Congress as it investigates why the tax agency was inappropriately targeting conservative groups that opposed Obama and other Democrats...
This sounds like impressive leadership in action, until you know the following, and I'm not finding fault with the reporter, Brian Hughes, for not including this information.
First, Steven Miller's interim appointment as IRS Director was scheduled to expire in June regardless of any scandal or not.
Second, Miller is actually staying on for another week, possibly two, for the transition period. Knowing those two facts takes the glow off that supposed decisive leadership decision. Miller was essentially already on the way out so it was an easy decision to throw him under the bus, not that he didn't deserve the boot, which he did.
This act by Obama (It was actually done by Jack Lew, Secretary of the Treasury) is purely a public relations containment act to give the impression that he, Obama, is a decisive and effective leader and manager of government. Let's be perfectly clear. Obama is not interested in cleaning up the government mess we are in, since he is responsible for the culture of government that we see today. Obama, in keeping with his narcissism, is almost singularly interested in his own personal legacy, yet to be written by history.
I still suggest reading the full article here for an expanded view of the emerging IRS and related scandals swirling around the Obama administration.
No it is not. It is called damage control. And the bus stops right here: "Mr. Miller, do you need a seat, or do you wish to ride underneath with the rest of the trash?" Of course, the real trash hasn't seen fit to move yet. I'm not holding my breath.
ReplyDeleteThis was such a blatant self serving public relations move to control the damage, that a third grader could see through it. It's now all over the blogosphere that this was a put up job with no adverse consequences for anyone. I actually think that this move will only add more fuel to the fire.
