Push is coming to
shove among Democrats and their constituencies of supporters and financial
contributors and it's going to get messy, very messy leading up to the 2014
midterm congressional elections on November
4th. The eco-fascists are on the march and they're marching
against their own benefactor and protector, President Obama and every other
Democrat that supports continuing or expanding the development of fossil fuel
energy sources for domestic uses or export.
Fossil fuel energy development in the United States is
quite possibly the largest single contributor to keeping America afloat in
these very trying economic times. Reducing the development and use of
fossil fuels domestically and for export is akin to cutting one's throat to
release the evil demons in a bloodletting. It's just voodoo magic of the
seriously mentally impaired that walk among us, protest among us and, in some
cases, engage in terrorist activities among us to advance their communist
communal craziness.
We're not talking about a couple of fringe enviro-Nazi
groups like the Earth Liberation Front (ELF). We're talking about groups
like the Sierra Club, the Center for Biological Diversity, CREDO and
Earthjustice, all substantial, if not almost mainstream political action
groups. These groups have millions of dollars of political clout at their
disposal plus a cadre of diehard supporters who are willing to go quite far to
achieve their goals of bringing us back 300 years in time. Then add in
the terrorist groups like ELF, and you have a formidable political opponent.
This is what Democrats are facing, unrest among the usually dependable kook constituency groups that financially support Democrats, while these same Democrats give passing deference to these groups by casting them the occasional political crumbs along the way.
A split is growing in the Democratic Party, one that ought to rival the divisions on the right that the headlines trumpet. Greens are increasingly bitter about President Obama —annoyed that he's dropped climate legislation, scaled back green subsidies, ignored fracking. They've channeled their frustration into the fight against Keystone, warning that they'll turn their significant money and resources against Mr. Obama's party if the president approves more "dirty oil." Since this president cares about nothing so much as winning elections, he's sat on the pipeline for five years.
Emboldened, the eco-warriors are now dramatically upping the stakes, demanding that Democrats turn against the natural-gas revolution that has propped up the Obama economy. More than a thousand activists flooded last month to a Keystone-like rally protesting Cove Point, a Maryland facility that is due to be the first to export liquefied natural gas. The Ukraine crisis and calls for greater gas exports have given the issue a big new lift. On Wednesday 16 prominent green groups sent an open letter to Mr. Obama demanding he essentially shut down Cove Point.
