Ben Carson: America is ‘Very Much Like Nazi Germany’

By Elizabeth Nelson

You know it isn't going to turn out well when you're invited to Crossfire to explain yourself.  That's the situation Dr. Carson found himself in, after his we “live in a Gestapo age,” and "America is very much like Nazi Germany."  However, I don't think Stephanie Carter expected him to stand by his comment or even to explain and defend it.

“To me, it doesn’t sound like a complex statement at all,” Carson said, before reiterating his original comments.

“People in Nazi Germany, most of them did not believe in what Hitler was doing. But, instead of protesting, instead of registering their displeasure, they simply decided to go along to get along. That is a very dangerous thing to do.”

And you can watch Dr. Carson’s original comments via Breitbart TV:

What he said was simply “making a point to the American people that if, in fact, you feel differently about what’s going on, you should not be shut up.” Although the way he's saying it may not be the right way to get his point across, and if this came out of the mouth of Biden, John Kerry, Al Sharpton, Hillary Clinton, or Obama we would be pissed as Hell, but through it all, he makes a back-handed point - only in that we need to find our voices if we don't like what's going on. But, it's in how he's presenting it.

However, in all good conscience, wrong is wrong, no matter who says it, whether it is from the mouth of a Conservative or a liberal, and we get pissed and complain about the "liberal double standard" when they say something stupid or insulting.  Yet we think it's okay when one of ours says something that maybe they should have thought twice about? Suddenly we understand where they're coming from, right?
