A California middle school teacher has been placed on leave after administrators learned from students that the educator appears in porn videos available online.
Stacie Halas, a 31-year-old science teacher at Richard B. Haydock Intermediate School in Oxnard, was removed from the classroom Monday, three days after pupils reported spotting her in a series of X-rated clips.
“Maybe it's not a crime as far as the penal code is concerned, but we feel it's a crime as far as moral turpitude is concerned,” said Jeff Chancer, superintendent of the Oxnard school district.

ReplyDeleteTeachers accused of any act of moral turpitude or criminal act are removed from the classroom with pay until a school district hearing can be held (usually within five days) or when formal criminal charges are filed by the local judicial officer, usually the District Attorney. When either of these actions have been accomplished, the teacher is no longer paid on their regular salary schedule . The teacher can draw upon any unused paid vacation days or accumulated sick days to continue receiving pay. These are contractually obligated payments and cannot be withheld under law. This is similar to the O.J. Simpson case where the Goldman family tried to attach Simpson's NFL pension in their civil suit judgement against Simpson and were denied on the basis of contract law.

ReplyDelete30 seconds research would reveal that Tiffany Six' last video was released in 2007. She does not work as a porn star and middle-school teacher, as your comment implies.
Further, you're perpetuating the misconception that the general public would be paying for Ms. Fluke's birth control costs. The actual cost would be borne by Georgetown University (technically their health care system), a private institution.
Now, if your beef is that a private institution has to comply with Federal regulations in order to receive government money, then say that. But that's a different argument.

I'm asking too many questions. Middle school kids shouldn't have access to porn anyway. That's a bigger issue. The union had better go to bat for this woman, so she can keep her job. Maybe she could teach in high school where everyone is less uptight.
