President Obama recently spoke at AIPAC, followed by a press conference in the White House press room. On both occasions Obama attempted to reassure his audience that the U.S. intelligence services along with Israeli intelligence services and others, do not believe that Iran has a nuclear weapon, nor is Iran likely close to creating a nuclear weapon in the near future.
Of course this is what Obama and the annual National Intelligence Estimate report has been saying for three years. The problem is that there is some evidence that Iran has tested a nuclear weapon, just not in Iran, where everyone is checking for evidence of such an event. It should be noted that underground nuclear tests are not immune from being detected by modern orbiting satellites with equipment designed to monitor various kinds of radiation and their emission levels from high above the earth.
The question then becomes one of where the Iranians might have tested a nuclear weapon. The answer might be that Iran outsourced the testing to another nuclear nation, which has already been exporting elements of nuclear weaponization technology to various terrorist states.
From PJ Media comes this interesting revelation that there are significant technical indications that Iran subcontracted the testing to North Korea in 2010 and that a history of nuclear technology exchange has existed between Iran and North Korea for decades.
[...] The Sunday morning edition of Germany’s Die Welt reports that Western intelligence agencies detected two nuclear weapons tests in North Korea in 2010, and that one or both of them might have been conducted for Iran. Die Welt sets the reported nuclear tests in the context of new documentation showing that the Iranian regime began its drive for nuclear weapons as early as 1984, under the direct orders of the late Ayatollah Khomeini. The author is the respected German analyst Hans Rühle, whose evaluation of Israel’s capacity to cripple the Iranian nuclear program created a stir last month.
The Die Welt report reads like a line-by-line refutation of the reported U.S. intelligence evaluation that there is no “hard evidence” that Iran is building nuclear weapons. That is a noteworthy reversal: the Obama administration’s intelligence chiefs claim that Iran is not an imminent threat, while a former top German official warns of immediate danger to the Jewish state. The fact is that there are some Germans who do not want to be responsible for a second Holocaust. [...]
So, while Obama quotes Teddy Roosevelt's famous phrase, "Walk softly, but carry a big stick", it may be the Iranians with the big stick.
Have the Israelis already known this? Have they been using the American meme of no foreseeable nuclear weapon development by Iran to cover their plans to destroy selected Iranian nuclear development sites late this spring?
Read the entire PJ Media report and decide for yourself.
I am surprised that this president is as lackadaisical/nonchalant about Israel's current predicament, as he appears to be.
ReplyDeleteUntil recently, I did not understand why Israel is our ally. Well, actually, we being larger, are their ally. But, if Israel is blown off the face of the earth, we shall be the losers.
The entire reason for the US-Israeli relationship is that the US needs to have access to the Eastern Mediterranean! The Jews are a hardy people. They have survived the worst that the world can dish out. But, if this president wishes to tank our economy, then, yes, it would make sense that he offer Israel lip service and not much else!
