Romney's taxes...the obsession of the leftist media

By Rob Janicki
Big Journalism asks...
[...] Why is the Activist Old Media so obsessed with Mitt Romney's taxes? [...]

And I say...
It's not the key to some deep dark secret that we don't already know the answer to.  Rather it's a recitation of what we should be asking the mainstream media over and over again.  What is it that you really seek to do?  Are Mitt Romney's tax returns somehow on the level of the Holy Grail?  No, not even close.

[...] The short answer is that as Barack Obama's #1 SuperPAC, it is the media's job to do whatever the campaign wants, so they do it. Mark Halpern said as much on the Today Show over the weekend. When asked about the media and the tax return issue, Halpern said, "The media is very susceptible to doing what the Obama campaign wants." No duh. [...]

The MSM isn't interested in reporting the news as much as they are interested in crafting the news to suit their desired political outcome.  When 90% of polled journalists self indicate they are liberals, in poll after poll, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that they have a vested interest in shaping the news with a strong liberal narrative, bent to the left.

[...] The media wants us to believe Romney's taxes are a big deal, so they keep the attention at a fever pitch. [...]

Why would the MSM pander to the Obama campaign so shamelessly?  The answer is they really believe in liberal progresivism in all its manifestations.  They truly believe that what they are doing needs to be done.  They have willingly set aside ethical standards of journalism because they are so invested in the righteousness of their actions, that they refuse to acknowledge the true calling of their profession and that is to report the news that really has an impact on people's lives.  Journalists are to follow the news where ever it takes them.  Instead the MSM slices, dices and crafts the news to fit their righteous ends, with facts being of little consequence to the greater end they seek.  Karl Marx would be proud of the MSM.

[...] The media expects us to believe that we are more interested in what Romney has done with his money, than what Obama is doing with ours. They know most American's could care less about Romney's tax returns, but they see this as a winning issue for Dear Leader, so they keep pushing it. [...]

And push it, they will, until it becomes apparent even to them that they are pushing a string uphill.  Then and only then will they move on to the next Obama/DNC talking point to push.  It becomes so embarrassingly apparent what the MSM is doing that you would think they just might actually try reporting the issues that really concern people, like the economy, jobs/unemployment, the deficit, and healthcare.  You know, the things that people actually worry about in their every day lives.

The MSM's behavior is [...] Further proof that there has never been an American election where the media has been so invested in the outcome. [...]

Is it any wonder that more and more people are getting their information from the internet than from the MSM?
