Paul, Lee, Cruz & Rubio threaten to filibuster Senate gun control legistlation

By Correctamundo

Another potential filibuster is looming in Congress and this time, Rand Paul will have more backup.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) on Thursday joined a group of Republicans threatening to filibuster gun control legislation in the Senate.

“We, the undersigned, intend to oppose any legislation that would infringe on the American people’s constitutional right to bear arms, or on their ability to exercise this right without being subjected to government surveillance,” he wrote in a statement on his website.
“The Second Amendment to the Constitution protects citizens’ right to self-defense. It speaks to history’s lesson that government cannot be in all places at all times, and history’s warning about the oppression of a government that tries.”

Earlier this week, GOP Sens. Rand Paul (Ky.), Mike Lee (Utah), and Ted Cruz (Texas) wrote a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) pledging to “oppose the motion to proceed to any legislation that will serve as a vehicle for any additional gun restrictions.”

This gun control crap is like a never-ending nightmare. You have law enforcement that refuse to enforce any new federal laws that infringe on the 2nd Amendment and then you have lawmakers that are threatening to fire anyone that doesn't.

The first effort emerged in Texas. Legislation proposed by Dallas Democratic Rep. Yvonne Davis would remove any sheriff or law enforcement officer who refuses to enforce state or federal laws.

What's more, it would remove any elected or appointed law enforcement officer for simply stating or signing any document stating that they will not obey federal orders.

That's a backdoor entrance into quashing free speech, don't you think? Yet another amendment under attack by this lib - it's a twofer.

And if you're not getting fired, your pay is being held up - that's an ironic choice of words. The once great state of Colorado has really gone to hell in a handgun basket.

One of dozens of Colorado sheriffs who oppose several gun control bills working their way through the state legislature claims lawmakers are threatening the salaries of sheriffs to punish them for their position.

“Senate Dems have made it known, ‘Sheriffs, obey or no pay for you,’” said Maketa, one of some 30 state sheriffs who attended public hearings on the gun bills to voice opposition. “The first word that comes to my mind is extortion.”

Preach it, my Constitutional brother.  These guys are upholding their oaths, which is more than we can say of just about any politician today. They get crappy pay, crappy press, and crappy support. Yet, they are taking their oath seriously and believe in upholding the Constitution as their standard - and this is their reward: extortion. Any politician found to be engaging in this type of politics should be investigated toot sweet. They should have to face a fine and/or imprisonment and lose their position.  It's ludicrous to see the depths that politicians, especially the libs, have sunk to on this issue. They are in clear violation of their own oaths to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution when they seek to rewrite our Bill of Rights to push their own twisted agenda. If you want to live in a gun-free society where you don't have any rights, then move to a foreign country. But get your hands off my frickin' rights, whether God-given or those enumerated in the Bill of Rights.

RE: Patriotic Americans Are Not "Wacko Birds!"

Contrary to what Senator John McCain and others may believe, the American people who support the Paul filibuster "ARE reflective of the views of the majority." Senator Paul's filibuster was much bigger than the man himself or even the substance of his policy positions on the use of drones.
Rand Paul's actions gave voice to the desires of patriotic Americans who have demanded, for far too long, that Members of Congress stop "compromising" and "making deals" with the out-of-control Obama regime. Rand Paul's actions gave voice to the desires of patriotic Americans who have demanded, for far too long, that Members of Congress stop pontificating and talking tough and actually take concrete actions to stop the abuses of the out-of-control Obama regime. Moreover, his actions illustrated just how easy it is to actually take a stand.
The time for choosing is upon you. Senator Paul started a firestorm that will soon engulf the political landscape and you can either get with the program or be engulfed by the political flames. Until the abuses of the out-of-control Obama regime are put to a stop, the American people expect you to follow Paul's example. You can stop our nation's out of control spending by simply refusing to fund it. You can stop ObamaCare by simply refusing to fund it. You can stop Barack Obama's repeated usurpations of the Constitution by simply choosing not to fund them. And you can stop idiotic legislation simply by filibustering it. Again, the time for choosing is upon you.

Mr Paul goes to Washington...and beats the crap out of Obama

By Correctamundo

EDITORS NOTE: AS OF 4:44 PM EST, RAND PAUL WAS STILL AT IT.

EDITORS NOTE #2: AS OF 5:06 P.M EST, MIKE LEE & TED CRUZ HAD JOINED IN ON THE FILIBUSTER.

EDITORS NOTE #3: AS OF 6:37 PM EST, RAND PAUL WAS STILL GOING LIKE THE ENERGIZER BUNNY.  I HOPE MARCO SENT HIM A CASE OF WATER.

Finally....a conservative voice in the wilderness has spoken.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) began speaking just before noon Wednesday on the Senate floor in opposition to the nomination of John Brennan to lead the CIA, saying that he planned to speak “for the next few hours” in a rare talking filibuster.

Preach it, Brother Paul!

“I will speak until I can no longer speak,” Paul said. “I will speak as long as it takes, until the alarm is sounded from coast to coast that our Constitution is important, that your rights to trial by jury are precious, that no American should be killed by a drone on American soil without first being charged with a crime, without first being found to be guilty by a court.”

Paul began his filibuster at 11:47 a.m. Eastern time. Around the one-hour mark, he acknowledged “I can’t talk forever” and said his throat was getting dry.

Speaking the truth will do that. You drink water, Obamaramadingdong drinks gin. Your buddy, Marco, has some water for you.

Paul’s comments from the Senate floor come as he’s raised objections in recent weeks. Paul first threatened to filibuster the Brennan nomination in late February, when he sent a letter to administration officials asking whether the U.S. government would ever use a drone strike to kill an American on U.S. soil.Paul called Holder’s refusal to rule out drone strikes within the United States “more than frightening.”

On Wednesday, Paul elaborated on his concerns: “When I asked the president, can you kill an American on American soil, it should have been an easy answer. It’s an easy question. It should have been a resounding, an unequivocal, ‘No.’ The president’s response? He hasn’t killed anyone yet. We’re supposed to be comforted by that.”

The only comfort we will get from anyone in this administration is if 1) we're the enemy; 2) we're a friend of the enemy; 3) all of the above.

“I have allowed the president to pick his political appointees [speaking of Schmagel & Mrs Heinz Kerry],” Paul said. “But I will not sit quietly and let him shred the Constitution. I cannot sit at my desk quietly and let the president say that he will kill Americans on American soil who are not actively attacking a country.

“I would be here if it were a Republican president doing this. Really the great irony of this is that President Obama’s opinion on this is an extension of George Bush’s opinion.”

Most everything that Obama touts as an accomplishment is usually someone else's idea....actually, his failures are always someone else's idea and fault, also.

Paul also said that he was “alarmed” at the lack of definition over who can be targeted by drone strikes. He suggested that many college campuses in the 1960s were full of people who might have been considered enemies of the state.
“Are you going to drop … a Hellfire missile on Jane Fonda?” Paul asked.
Of course not - she's the enemy and thus a friend of the WH. See my 3 conditions above for who will get comfort.
On this same subject, Eric Holder has made it clear that Obama has the power to do whatever he wants.
Mr. Holder told the Senate Judiciary Committee that Mr. Obama will deliver a speech in the near future laying out the issues at stake and asking for a public debate on the underlying principles.

Mr. Holder also said, though, that he is not sure Congress could ban the president from using drones to kill Americans on U.S. soil.

He said that would likely run afoul of the Constitution’s grant of powers to the president in Article II.

Mr. Paul described the legal situation as one in which one person — the president — holds the power to be the accuser, the judge and the executioner, since terrorist-designation proceedings are all contained within the executive branch and done generally in secret.

“Are we so afraid of terrorism, are we so afraid of terrorists that we’re willing to just throw out our rights and freedom?” he said.
But Mr. Holder disputed Mr. Paul’s warning of executions of those sitting in cafes or at home, saying that the government cannot use lethal force against a U.S. citizen on U.S. soil unless that person is deemed to be an imminent threat to security. He said that goes for normal law enforcement and the military, even in time of war.

So after Fast&Furious and Benghazi Gate, we're just going to believe everything that Eric the Terrible says? Now the question is: what does Obama and Holder deem an imminent threat? The devil is in the details, which is what they don't expound on.

Here's a short clip of Rand Paul today.

Did you just hear that noise? That was the Founding Fathers, sitting up and high fiving each other. That was the sound of liberty. That was the sound of freedom and democracy and truth.  It's a refreshing sound, is it not?

The unbearable stupidity of being an ignorant tool

Seanator Rand Paul tries to talk to Progressive fool as if Progressive fool were an adult. I put Dave's part of the transcript in bold because such spectacular toolery deserves to be highlighted.
..........................................
NewsBusters
(excerpt)
PAUL: If you look at the taxes, if you look at the income tax, the top 1 percent pay about a third of the income tax. The top 50 percent -- those who make $70,000 and above -- pay 96 percent of the income tax, so the middle class and above are paying all of the income tax. We are paying our fair share. Even you are probably paying your fair share.

LETTERMAN: Right, I think there’s something wrong with those numbers. I don't know what it is exactly, but I'm pretty sure there’s something wrong with them. Because you’re talking about -- thank you, you're applauding my stupidity. God bless you. I just don't, I don't think it makes sense to me. You look at these people in Wisconsin, and we're talking about, you know, the people we've been talking about, why don't we just raise the taxes and let these folks have their collective bargaining, have their union representation and go back to their jobs? Raise the taxes on the wealthy or don't even cut the taxes.

PAUL: But I guess the argument is, is you have to look at the details and say: Have we been generous with teachers in Wisconsin? The average teacher in Wisconsin is making $89,000 a year to work nine months.

LETTERMAN: They should be making twice that. The school system in the United States of America is in desperate need of attention. I mean, we agree on that. The school system is bereft. It needs attention. It has fallen behind. We are embarrassingly trailing other nations in terms of public schools.

PAUL: Yes, we can agree, we can agree to the problem, but here's the rub. In Washington, D.C., we spend $20,000 per pupil and we still have a crummy school system that’s failing our kids, our kids are dropping out. Half of them are dropping out before they finish high school, their scores are abysmal, and we spend more and more money. So money's not always the answer. You have to do something, but I think part of the problem is we’ve taken education from the local sphere and now we control it from Washington. I think that's been a mistake.

LETTERMAN: Well, something has gone haywire because it's not working. And I'm not sure that I agree with that argument. And, by the way, if we’re going to throw money at something, what about education? You know, for God’s sakes, let's just see if it improves somehow.
